Hajj 2018: Bawumia meets Ouattara at Mecca

Muslims from around the world have started the yearly ritual in Saudi Arabia, performing rites in and around the holy city of Mecca; and Ghana’s veep, Dr. Alhaji Mahammudu Bawumia has met with President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara for the pilgrimage.

The two, seen in white Islamic clothing are in Mecca to merge with thousands of Ghanaians and Ivorians as well as millions of Muslims around the world in performing this year’s Hajj.

Hajj is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey.

Dr. Bawumia left the country for Mecca last Friday to perform the Islamic pilgrimage and was accompanied by his wife, the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia.

Dr Bawumia and Quatara while on the pilgrimage, will use the spiritual exercise to pray for the two nations and Africa at large.
